Photographer's Note
For a while now I've been thinking of posting another from Mt. Rainier. This was taken about a mile to the left of my previous post from Mt. Rainier but with a very different composition. This volcano peaks out at 14,440 ft (4392m). The large glacier to the left of the tall tree is Emmons Glacier. The one on the far left by itself to some extent is Fryingpan Glacier. And finally the small one to the right of the tall tree is Inter Glacier.
Taken in the mid-morning on the way to Sunrise Visitor Center. That should be a contrail above Mt. Rainier. I went to Google Earth and entered the POV where I thought I was standing. I think I am fairly accurate with the LL I came up with. This might be one of the last I post of Mt. Rainier.

This sure looks familiar (from the label of Rainier Beer bottles!). It's a wonderfully detailed shot of this monster, with glaciers tumbling down from all sides. I'd like to get out and do some hiking there sometime, it looks pretty intersting. Great colours, and it was a nice touch to include that tree in the foreground. Great work!

Hey Mr. Steve, What a shot. I enjoy the view of this picture very much. The rock looks like painting to me. I even can tell the stroke of the painting brush there :D. An excellent shot with nice depth and contrasts. I enjoy the signature Steve style grand view. Nice including the foreground plants to show the contrast and the layers of the different view. Well done.

Hi Stephen,
congratulations for this shot. The place itself is really fantastic. And I appreciate the saturation of colours and the composition too, with those 2 very high trees at the center of the shot.
Well done.

Great mountain in every sense of the word. Good job of exposure here. The snowfields are not blown out at all but there is still lots of detail in the darker areas taken up by the woods. PErhaps the composition would have been more striking with a stronger forground (e.g., the tree taking uo more space in the frame or cutting through the white part of the mountain or the like). Just ideas here. It is a fine shot as it stands.
Cheers,
Mikkel
PS: Btw. It is a great idea to Google Earth the location! GE is the only on-line site I find more addictive than TE. And a great way to plan trips based on TE photos.

Bonjour Steve,
N'ιtant pas un gars de la montagne, il m'est difficile d'apprιcier tous les termes techniques ; toutefois, mes yeux sont capables de discerner ce qui est beau !
Je m'incline devant un tel paysage.

Hi Stephen
A fantastic panorama of this imposing peak. Perhaps I would add a little cyan & yellow to the lower 1/2 of the image? Good work, & tfs!

Hi Stephen - classic pacific northwest scenery, and the darkness level looks ideal on my monitor throughout the frame, I miss the days when I used to live within a couple of hours of this place.

Hi Stephen,
One cannot get enough of Mt. Rainier, and every shot of it is slightly different. I love your composition here, with the pointed trees well placed and not interfering with the view of the main glacier. Did you tone down the lighting on the glacier itself? Usually there is a bit of a glare, and I am curious as to whether the toned down look came in PP or right from the camera. There is a fine painterly look to the shot, with the sharpness level just right. A nice one, Steve.

Good Evening Stephen. I see you have returned to the tall one. I see real nice lighting and detail from this vantage point. I have to ask you if you shot this in raw format first? Looks really nice. I am thinking of heading up Whistler this summer and checking out some of those places that Ann75 has posted. Places like Garibaldi Park etc...lots of mountians and lakes...
Good work in capturing this scene!

Hi Stephen,
We have here no mountains and certainly no snow, we live in a countryside, I enjoy always of this wonderful pictures out of your country, again excellent contrast between the green foreground with pinetrees and the white silhouette of the mountain.
Have a nice sunday,
John

Hi Steve,
A classical and technically well mastered view of Mt Rainier, from a compo point of view I'm wondering if a PoV allowing the foreground pine tree to be more on the right was available, just food for thought.
Have a nice week end,

Hi Stephen,
The representation of this picture reminds me to the TV-painter Bob Ross. But in contrast with his paintings I do like this lovely picture. This landscape is ment for great pictures not for clichι paintings full of gimmicks.

Bonjour Stephen,
Best regards.

Hi Stephen,
As usual your great insight in landscape compositions to wild nature and specially mountains and surrounding views. I like your good angle approaching capture and the enquadrement for composition you did so well. Well balanced with good colors, light and fine sharpness. A National Geography View!
Very good job in a simple nature. Congratulations and allways the best to you and your good work.

Hi Stephen! I read about this mountain, it's a distant cousin of Mt. Hood, right? Too bad I wasn't able to go to Washington when I went to Oregon last year. Good lighting and colors, your view also shows us how it's like to trek out there! TFS! rgds.

I always hesitate to post on PIX with a gazillion points, but I can't resist this on. It is just like being there from the wihite trail across the blue sky to the sharp foreground detail of the grasses and trees. Wonderful light and color. As I view other's photos I'm trying to learn when stuff in the forground adds and when it disracts.. In yours it adds. Reagrds, Pat
