Photographer's Note
Quail Creek Lake, a human made reservoir, is a popular spot in southern Utah to fish and do other outdoor sports.
The sandstone bluff you see in the upper right corner is a type of stone in which dinosaur evidence can be found. In nearby St. George, Utah, a very important discovery took place as many and varied dinosaur tracks were found that give much new evidence as to how dinosaurs walked and behaved.
Here, though, is a spot in which fishing for living animals seems more important than looking for evidence of dead ones.

A classic (and classy) landscape from you again, David. Composition is impeccable as always, with a fine diagonal balance between the foreground rock and the sandstone bluff in the back. Good post-work with the contrast and the fine tonal range you pulled from the b&w conversion.

Hi David, A well composed picture with the timeless B&W process. You have well captured the dramatic cloud together with the beautiful scenery.

Hello David
A sad moody atmosphere,almost depressing.
Must be my need of sun and light in the winter in order not to fall in a depressive mood.
A solid composition and excellent texture.
B&W goes very well here.

Bonsoir mon ami David,
Amitiιs.

Hi David. Those clouds are truly eye-popping. Good use of the rock in the foreground and way the sun is hitting it is perfect. The reflection is of course a great add. Beautiful landscape David!

Hi David
I like the superb tonal range in this outstanding b&w image. The symmetry between the fg rock & bg bluff is marvellous. Good sharpness & lighting. Well done!

Very nice work with the B/W, David, particularly the cliffs and clouds in the distance. In fact, they are so nice that you could make another worthy image out of this by cropping off the bottom 30% or so (say, at the middle to top of the shadow on the left side.) This appears to have been taken in mid-day light, but you nonetheless got rich tones out of it. Probably it's easier to do that with B/W, but it's still a big challenge, which you successfully met. Nice work! Regards, Ken.

Hi David,
The text brings the Jurassic Park story back to my mind... I wish I could have been shooting in this area 60 Mio. years ago !
Nice B&W shot, I like the good contrasts and the fine shades, especially on the foregoround rock that also serves as a good introduction to the view.
Have a nice day,
jean-yves

Absolutely classic (as said) western photography David, but it also measures up well to the standards established in that genre. The detail in the B&W is excellent and the striated clouds give a evolving feel that static clouds would have missed.

Hi David,
All is said.
The sky is not so dramatic as in "Elk Valley (12)", but the photo amazing also.

Hi David,
This is nice! I very much like the sky. The composition is also very good. I'm not a big fan of white and black, but here, it create a good atmosphere. Especially because of the clouds. It is a very rough landscape, and there is beauty in that roughness. You are a master at showing it. Thanks!
Claire
