Photographer's Note
This is another angle view of the pilings seen in my last two photos. The island behind these is Fremont Island.
Again, these pilings belonged to the old Lucin Cutoff, an old rail line that went directly across the Great Salt Lake but was replaced in 1956 by a raised road bed. The trestle system comprised these two piers.

A still and loney feel to this composition in which the dark skies only enhance. A stunning and nostalgic scene. Well done.

Haunting image and beautiful composition. The high contrasts work very well.
Thanks David.

Hi David! You chose the perfect POV so we can take in all of those repeating trestles one by one. I like the decision to go to b/w here. The lighting and sky has once again taken on a surreal look. It looks to be cold and nasty out at the time of the shot. I think the contrast is one of the pics best features. Another superb shot David!

What a great and timeless image. The lighting is superb and I really like the reflections on the water. The skies so heavy with clouds are moody. There's a quiet and simple dignity to this photo. Very beautiful work.

Hi David,
Another nice view with perspective, I like how these pilings series seem to vanish in the far end. Contrasts are strong and the dark clouds to the left add dramatism to the scene, I wonder how this view would looke like in color...
Have a nice day,
Jean-Yves

this is very nice David.. Sorry if i didn't look at it before.. So many pictures nowadays that you would need to be in front of the computer all day long.
I like those pilings, the graphic effect is really nice against such a great landscape.

This one is also very interesting David. The exposure in all these 3 or 4 photos have been tremendous. but I like this stand back point of view very much.
good work!

Another fine B&W image of the pilings - the POV gives the effect they go on forever :)

Again the graphical potential of those old wooden pilings is superbly utilized in the compo you made, David. They also make a fine device to enhance the sense of perspective as they lead the viewer's eye deep into the scene. Great presentation in b&w and superb post-work.

Nice shot David,
I enjoy the perspective and proportions of this image. Since the subject is part of the past, I think the use of black and white is a good idea. Well managed light also.

It's a great angle, David, and it is very good in b/w. Graphism is very strong here thanks to the b/w, the cloudy sky and the bright water. I like it very much.

Hi David,
God job in pp-ing to bring fine grey tones out. Together with bold contrast, it adds some dynamic to this otherwise static scene.
Have you ran it through some noise-elimination software as it looks extremely clean?
