Photographer's Note
Fort Clinch was build on the northern end of Amelia Island, at the Florida-Georgia border to protect coastal and interior shipping, and defend the port of Fernandina Beach. Construction of fortification began in 1847, continuing efforts led to the near completion of Fort Clinch until 1867, when work was halted. Today, Fort Clinch stands of one of finest examples of Third System Fortifications of US coastline. Ft. Clinch is located just few mills from Old Fernandina at St. Mary's River entrants.
