Photographer's Note

Don Pedro Lake looked so pretty with the lupine and California Poppies in bloom that I had to take a photo. When I researched the lake for my post, the note and title took a whole new direction.

In the early 1900s, while Los Angeles was busy buying up the water rights from Tioga Pass to Bishop; San Francisco scored a much bigger coup by getting the right to build a dam in the Hetch Hetchy Valley, a part of the brand-new Yosemite National Park.

John Muir said this Valley was equal to Yosemite in grandeur, although black and white
