Photographer's Note
While near the summit of Mount Massive (14,421 ft / 4,396 m), this mountain goat came wandering into view. We stopped and watched it for a while (at one point it was virtually standing on the highest point of the mountain, but too far away for a good shot), until eventually some other hikers decided to continue ahead, causing it to retreat down one of the rocky faces. I managed to get this shot as the goat seemed to be surveying the terrain.
