Photographer's Note
Goosenecks State Park
Maybe not as impressive as the famous Horseshoe Bend, but still more than worth to see : Goosenecks National Park, which is located near Mexican Hat and not far from Monument Valley. We visited this place on the same day we drove from Monument Valley to Lake Powell. It was a side trip of about 1 to 2 hours, but, as I said, it was really worth it. The river that built the loops you can see on my picture is San Juan River. With my 16mm lens I couldn΄t get both loops on my photo, so I made a stitch of five pictures next to each other. Not much of PP here, only some light, contrast and colors in Photoshop.
I hope you like it and I΄m glad for any advice, hint or proposition, that could help me to improve my photography.

Jonas, this is in no way less impressive than the horse shoe bend shots. I would love to see this cropped and presented in LP mode for the detail but it is awesome and you did a great job.

Hallo Jonas! Beeindruckende Arbeit, toll umgesetzt. Beste Gruesse, Barbara.

Oh, WOW!!! Jonas,
what a shot! Absolutely stunning. Magnificent panoramic view, fabulous light and color, extraordinary detail. You did a GREAT job of stitching those shots, too. This is just awesome. Many thanks and warm regards,

Hallo Jonas,
perfekt.. so schφne Meander sieht man selten.
Gratuliere, Christian

I never heard about this park, but it seems increadible.
You have done a great job presenting it. I would probably try to go closer to the edge to see more of the turn but may be it was not safe already.
Good colors and sharpness!

Hallo Jonas,
I drove two times by this place on my way to MV but never stopped. Although the view is familiar to me, i never took a picture of it. Maybe because i don't see the whole curve and there is no way i can get them without that red piece of land in front? Your stitching is remarkable, looks flawless and the view is indeed imposing and very inviting to stop next time....i promise i will ;-)
Take care,
Henk

Well done for fitting all that in frame, I guess here the river decided to take the long way round.

Hello Jonas
Good to see you back! How're you doing Jonas? Honestly I never knew about this place. The stitching is impeccable. Though less of a WOW image in terms of a photograph, compared to the Horse shoe bend, I think, to the naked eye this actually maybe more interesting because of the 4 arms of the serpentine meanders that the river makes...but of course you would know better. The brown triangle of the outcrop in the FG, sure hinders a better view, but there's nothing you could do about it. An excellent post from this place, which you helped me discover
Best Wishes for you & your dear ones for 2009!
Regards
Angshu

Hallo Jonas,

I was directed here by Henk. Amazingly we both posted an image from here on the same day! It's not even a well visited place, so it is even more of a coincidence.
This is a fantastic image you have stitched together. Can you remember where you stood? I couldn't even see all three goosenecks at one time, never mind take images to stitch. As I had to move quite a way the angles were different so I didn't even try to stitch them all together. The result is stunning. Excellent work.
We were heading from Monument Valley to Colorado so the side trip didn't take long at all.

Hi Jonas
You're right, it's not as amazing as Horseshoes bend, but if you avoid what i find to be the best bend in the world, this one is an excellent.
I didn't know it exist but the fact it turn 3 time is incredible.
I understand that even at 16mm it wasn't enough.
Have a good day

Jonas,
I missed this shot somehow. Anyway, glade I found it. I think I like it better than the Hourseshoe Bend. It impressive, I don't even know too much about it. Really great quality shot showing all the beauty of this place. There something very rough of the rock scape in combination of the elegant of the river and bends. and I like the contrast betweent the two different color of the rocks and beautiful blue sky. Great job. Thanks. I'll make a point of going there next time I'm going that way.

Hi Jonas,
An impressive sight on these canyons. One will have needed million years to arrive at these geological formations. We felt really very small in front of such a landscape. Good management of the lights and colors natural, thank you Jonas.
With all my friendships and a very good evening,

Bonjour Jonas,
bravo pour ce choix de POV qui nous fait voir avec beaucoup d'ιlιvation et d'ιtendue, ce phιnomθne inoui, cette riviθre aux serpentins.
Un endroit qui porte bien son nom.
Best regards.

Hello Jonas,
This site is indeed very impressive.
It was probably not easy to find a good pov but your photo shows well the beautiful line of the river.
The sky was amazing!

Hi Jonas,
Well, I saw neither of them, but according to your photos these triple loops look more impressive than the Horseshoe Band.
Perfect stitch and great quality! Bravo!
TFS!
Cheers,
Marci
