Photographer's Note
After a day of rain, the clouds cleared and left a fog interlacing with the landscape. Seeing this unfolding, I raced to the White Salmon River in Washington to find this yellow iris accompanied with a backdrop of a picturesque river. I had to wade in the icy water to set up my camera if I wanted to utilize the iris as the foreground subject. After struggling to get everything right and some numb feet I was ready to shoot. With the sun long gone I was forced to shoot a 30 second exposure. For some reason the flower didn’t move the entire time, which was lucky because I was only able to expose two sheets of film.

Hi Mitch,
Great to see an LF photographer on TE. The color with the typical magenta cast of RVP over long exposures is quite attractive. The iris adds very nice color and contrast, and also serves as a visual anchor in the foreground. It's a miracle that the flower stayed still for 30 seconds. Truly excellent composition, esp. the symmetry around the mist. Regards,
Hakan

Hi Mitch
fantastic picture. The landscape and the reflection separated by the fog are wonderful. The detail of the yellow flower is great and give to your picture a touch of warm color into the different blues. Congratulations for this great composition.

Mitch,
The haze of the fog contrasts nicely with the smooth stillness of the river. Nice contrast of colors too, and great composition.

Hi Mitch,
This is really nice - I love how you placed that single lonely yellow flower into the foreground as a perfect focal point. Very nice work and TFS. Gerald
