You broke some rules, I suppose, but as long as it works... I really enjoy the lighthouse at the very edge like that. You communicate the importance of the environment in which the lighthouse resides very starkly.

Some rule say that you should not put the horizon at the center 5(I think that's the rule dsidwell is speaking about). Did you 'break' the rule on purpose ?
At first it distracted me, then as Dsidwell I thought that maybe you had a good reason for that.
The horizon is not horizontal (about one degree). It might seem to be a detail, but many people (including me now) as are distracted by this detail.
A question of personal choice, I dislike the 4/3 format. I would have chosen either a more rectangular format (or in this case a square format might also work).
OK, let me put all this into a workshop. I hope you will like it.

Your first conbtribution is very nice... The framing and the subject are well chose, perhaps a close-up would have been nice.
