Mountain Goat
The Mountain Goat (Rocky Mountain Goat) is a large-hoofed mammal, that lives in the northern part of America. The animals (which are despite the name not real goats) are really good climbers, what they proofed me when I saw them. They can run up some rocks very fastly, that are even difficult for us to climb. They use their ability to find places to rest, where they are safe from any predators.
People in Canada and the US told me that we were really lucky to see them because actually they are quite shy and can not be seen so often by tourists. I discovered two of them sitting on some rocks about 20 meters away from the road, when we drove through Glacier National Park. So we immediately stopped our car and went out to watch them. The didn΄t even care so much when we approached, they were just relaxing on the rocks and dind΄t want to change their place. Just when I started to take some pictures of the two Mountain Goats that were already there, a third one arrived. It just crossed the road and ran up the rocks faster than your eyes could follow until it also reached a place where it could recline.
The picture you can see now only shows one of them, another one with two or three of them might be still to come, but I wanted so start with a close up. Unfortunately there was no more light illuminating the scenery, the photo would have probably been far better, but I was so happy to see these animals that I just had to post a picture of them.
I΄m glad for any advice, hint or proposition, that could help me to improve my photography.

Jonas, Fantastic shot, these encounters with the wild are few and far between for the most of us and this makes them more real. Your shot is framed well and with good exposure and sharpness, great, really great capture.

What a lucky capture as it is so hard to get so close to these lovely creatures.
Great POV, colour and detail.

Lucky chap, as per your notes to have visited the goats.
A nice close up Jonas, and this breed is different from the goats we have in India.

Hi Jonas,
No advice or hint on how to improve, just a note saying that this shot really stands out. I'm usually not very keen on fauna or flora shots on TrekEarth, but for this one I'll make an exception. It's very much like a (human) portrait, w/ lots of expression in it. A great goat!

Jonas,
What a nice close up shot of this Mountain goat, they are very cute. I see a few of them when I was hiking in Glacier National Park. Sometimes they would walk a long side with us for a little while. The babies are especially fun to watch. Really good details, sharpness and clarity. I like the low POV looking up toward this little guy/girl. Thanks Jonas. Have a great weekend.

Hi Jonas:
Dang it! Had I known you were going to post this shot of a mountain goat I would have waited with mine. :) hahaha...I guess that's how it goes sometimes. Great shot--I love that close-up view looking up at this handsome devil. Very impressive. Whereabouts in Glacier was this? My mother-in-law said the same thing--they're very shy--but unfortunately in Glacier people have corrupted them and they have no shame in fraternizing with the tourists these days.

Hi Jonas
Good depth of field with the mountain goat really marked from background. You capture him in a good position. As you said it were no more light, it explain why your picture isn't contrasted. You were lucky finding one (and more). Waiting for your nexts pictures.
Best regards.
