Autumn Road.
Road to the Fern Lake Trailhead - Rocky Mountain National Park.
This road is one of my favorite places to be the first weekend of October every year ... from this scene it winds .7 of a mile through a thick grove of aspens to the Fern Lake Trailhead ... The area is teeming with the resident herd of elk .. it is not uncommon to walk amongst them down this road.
By first snowfall the road closes and you must walk down it to get to the Fern Lake trail .. the one downer this time of year is motorists .. who either think they will be lucky enough to get one of the dozen spots down at the trail (so they don't have to come back to the bigger lot at the head of the road) .. or people photo-motoring down the road .. I don't know why they would rather drive it than walk it .. no matter what time of year it is one of my favorite walks .. but a special place in autumn.

John,
Nice autumn scene with great color and lighting. I like your composition with the eye being led down the road through the photo and the mountains peeking through in the center. The photo has excellent DOF and sharpness.

This is a simple photo of the road, but anyway, it seems so magical!
Maybe the colors of the trees add that magic, or the shadows, or the sky... maybe everything together! anyway, a really nice photo.

Beautiful scene John, and well captured. Leaves you wondering what's around that next bend. Good mix of interest with the autumn leaves, moody sky and mountains peaking through.

Lovely warm autumn colors. I might have cropped a small part of he road or changed the angle a little to the left when you took the photo.

Hi John, I like this picture, esp. the lighting. Very smooth and pleasant. The colors are great too. I cannot imagine driving along this beautiful road...must be very relax. Here in Lubbock, TX, there is nothing beautiful like this. You are lucky to live in this pretty place. Regards, Sothy,

Hi John,
This popped up in random and just couldn't resist it although i usually try for the lastest photo. The light is magic!! The way you've framed the shot with the trees over-hanging the curve of the road is very attractive as are the long shadows on the road. Detail and color is excellent as well,

Beautiful... tranquil... peaceful... many words will fit this fine scenery!
Good sidelight brings life to the foliage, and the bending dirt road will take me... where?
I find great pleasure in driving roads like this, and often I'm rewarded by some great sceneries along the road!
