Mill Creek Autumn - Aspens framing the creek ...
Mill Creek Basin trail - Rocky Mountain National Park.
I spotted this image snapped this shot .. I was so pleased with myself on the way home .. only to discover a few nasty weeds blowing in the wind .. blurred in my exposure .. I finally spent a few minutes and cloned them out today.
This is my third image from our September 23 hike this year on the Mill Creek Basin Trail ..
Just to be redundant:
This is a quiet trail to nowhere .. mostly it just is a connecting route between some of the major trail systems in the park .. but a great place for Fall color. According to a ranger I spoke to this thick strip of aspens is here because early on this was the main logging area for the town of Estes Park .... the trees for the Stanley Hotel came from this area. The aggressive aspens took over but will eventually be naturally replaced by other species.

Hello John -
Nice use of the aspens to frame the waterfall. The veiling of the water has been handled to perfection. But, IMO, the composition is a bit busy with the logs and dry grasses competing with the waterfall.
Thank for sharing

Hey John, I like the idea of shotting through the flower. This gives a sense of the flowing water and the beauty of the flower. Great. Sothy, :) tomorrow.

Using the aspen leaves for the framing of the water is perfect. I do not dislike the flowers in the foreground. However what I don't understand is the lack of DOF. You got f/22. That should have taken care of a flawless DOF, but it didn't. Why? The I realize that you just used 127kb's for posting instead of the allowed 200kb's. Is the lack of sharpness or DOF a processing problem? Still the composition and colors are beautiful.
Kind Regards, Peter

Hi John,
Good use of the colors in the foreground to frame the background of shiney rocks and milky falls.

Hi John,
The yellow in the leaves really make this shot great. You've got great composition and timed the water well.
Cheers to you !

Hey, this is a nice one!
I like the framing with the yellow/greenish leaves a lot. Good sharpness and details there. This also covers for the centered compo, which really doesn't hurt at all this way. The death stick on the left and trunk of tree on the right are also nice additions.
Nice long exposure makes a nice effect on the waterfall.
A pity that details there became a little blocky a noisy. Indeed what phoebringer says try to push it up to the 200kb limit. Jwmunro also has a point with the grasses.

I'm fond of "peek-a-boo" mini-landscapes, and this hits the spot. A good composition, nicely framed by the brightly coloured Aspen leaves.

Hi John,
That is a perfect frame!! The golden aspen leaves surroung the silky blur of the small waterfall is just perfect! The tree tronk, & the fluffy seed heads add interesting detail.

Hi John,
Well spotted with excellent exposure control, you can almost hear the water flowing. The leaves and colours make it even more interesting. TFS
