Oh my, the lovely colors, with green changing into blue, the long curving dock, the tall ship in the background,and the puff of cloud.
You're right about the tripod. It's hard to always have one handy, it's hard enough to always have the camera handy. Of course when you back, the light will be different; but I think this is a scene worth looking at agai. In fact the next time I go to SF, I will look for that dock. I've never seen it, at least not from this perspective.
