Photographer's Note
My plans to head to West Marin were suddenly changed by a call from a close friend who was to babysit Moira this afternoon. She asked if I'd care to meet this very young child of one of her friends. I said yes and brought my camera along.
Moira was asleep when I arrived but when she awoke her cries told my friend that she was hungry. I helped heat the milk and then sat opposite my friend as she offered the baby a bottle filled with her mother's milk. I saw this scene and knew I had to take a picture. What I found fascinating was that Moira was touching my friend's hand through most of the time she ate. I recalled the photo Rinie did of the young girl in her father's arms whose fingers touched his bare skin with the same intimacy. Later when I gave Moira a second bottle, this one filled with warm water since there was no more milk and she was hungry, I was struck by how she held my gaze through the feeding. It was a very touching experience with this young being whom I had not met before today.
So I introduce Moira to all of you. She is a remarkably sweet little girl.

Curtis, this is beautiful and tender and very special, not just the picture, but what you tell in your note as well. I love their hands indeed, beautiful, the small one as well as the big one, but you know I like hands.
This is very touching indeed, thanks for not going to West Marin, and if you don't mind, I'll shove this one right into my 'favorite' box.
May she grow up to be a beautiful person!

Yes, very touching shot – I like your smart title. Very nice atmosphere – and your choice of sepia tones works very well. I would frame the image a bit tighter to emphasize the touch – I posted a WS.

Beautiful and sensitive photograph. It reminds me lots of the tender moments I've shared with my own children. Good choice of sepia.

A very touching and poignant scene, Curtis, even more so in the way you cropped it and decided to present it in sepia. Wonderful capture of this tender moment, very well complimented by your sensitive note. Hope you're enjoying your new "digital rebel".

This is really a beautiful capture Curtis. The treatment of this delicate moment is very sensitive and your crop is exquisite - showing us what you want us to see - all the lines and curves connected to this gente interaction. You also show us here that you're able to handle this kind of scenes too. Congrats! And thanx for sharing this, along with your personal story. Great job!

Moira is so lovely cought. The touch is so well rendered. A pity we can't see her eyes, but this is not really important here. This so unique moment of communication is perfectly and very nicely conveyed. Thanks for sharing Curtis!

Very well done ! A focus on probably the most important gesture of our lives : a mother giving diner to her baby with all the love, the affection and the attention needed. Your photo renders this feeling so well and the B&W choice with these sepia tones reinforces this aspect. Very well done !

Very intimate and, if I may say, rather uncharacteristic, but brilliant shot, but all has been said already.

I've been out for a while. I am choosing this to critic/comment on. Why... this is a very good picture. Excellent angles, color tones with that light touching them very subtly. I like it a lot, Curtis. A favorite.
