Photographer's Note
We drove into Death Valley along Highway 190 in a stifling 50°C heat. This is a typical late afternoon view of an area known as Devil's Cornfield, which derives its name from the strange bushes seen here (a species of arrow weed, Pluchea sericea).
We spent a very sweaty night (a constant 47°C) at the almost deserted (and aptly named) Furnace Creek campground ready for a 5 am start for Badwater and the Devil's Golfcourse. DV in July is quite an experience, but our next visit will be in the winter!

Hello John,
The light is just wonderful here! If it were not written that we are in Death Valley, I would have expected that the sea was on your left hand side here ;-). Very nice!
There is a bit of lighter area to the right of the clouds. What happened there? That's a bit strange, but next to that very natural light in the whole compo!
Greetings,
Dennis

John,
Amazing high saturation vision which ought to make use of a "prism filter" - if any such thing existed - I'm sure it doesn't - but the result is indeed impressive. That Devil, he put in a lot of work over there!

Hi John,
I would never expect such a colourful shot from an area as barren as Death Valley.
Superb POV and natural colours (well, except for the top left ;o)), great compo.
Looks like the Devil was pretty busy at DV... Devils's Golf Course, Devil's Cornfield... What's next? Devil's Shopping Mall?
Great shot, thanks for sharing!
Best wishes

Hi John,
I did the opposite: first visit to Death Valley in winter, second in summer.
In winter it was more pleasant indeed but very cloudy and cold at night. Also was raining at night.
Because of the dense clouds all my pictures were very dark and grey. Also I wanted to experience the high temperature so finally I must say the summer visit was much more enjoyable.
You caught beautiful light. The texture of the ground is very pretty and interesting.
Very high quality shot,
M

Hello John
the enormous depth of field, the low pov give a very dramatic impact to your composition. Yet its delicate colors, its harmony provides a soothing feeling.
Congratulations

Hi John,
Good to see you posting again.
Hard deep colours, full with light and contrast and well saturated....i like that a lot.
I know this place, but i never stopped, but seeing this i surely missed something. Great light management, very good controlled....and a lot of depth using those bishes in front...excellent.

Henk

Hello John,
A fine view of the famous dry and deep valley, well brought in low light that renders the structure of the soil very well, not to forget the beautiful golden colours.
well done.

Hi John,
Strange landscape, it looks like a sea of salt. The framing is excellent with the bushes in the foreground giving a good DOF. The light is very nice and the sky has great colours.

Hello John,
This is a truly weird and wonderful landscape! The fiery light has made the bushes glow to great effect and the whole picture is marvellously sharp. Spectacular!
Best wishes....Maggie

Hi John, how have you been, nice to see you around again !
A wonderful setting, warm light and colors, all very fine tuned as you can do it so well :-). I am not sure I could have taken those temperatures, I tend to melt at 30°C already...what is interesting is that if one didn't know, it could also look like a cool place.

Hi John
Nicely composed with the one bush in close for FG interest. I was here 18 months ago and it was 48C at that time also. I hope you will post some more from here as I think DV is one of the most interesting spots that I have photgraphed.

I really like the rainbow assortment of colors in the upper left hand corner and the almost flat looking clouds. What a great area to explore!

Hello John,
Very nice to know you here. I see we share some common travel destination. This is not a typical late afternoon my friend, it very specials with the beautiful light and clouds, I'm sure you did a little saturation, but there is only so much you can do if the colors are not there to begin with. I was here in the late morning, photo didn't turn out as well as your here. I like the beautiful colors illuminated by the late afternoon warm light on the weeds constrasting very well on the pale beige sands, the background with layer of mountain range in the sunset complete this composition beautifully. Excellent collections of work in your gallery, very impressive. thanks and it great to hear from you. Keep in touch.
