Photographer's Note

Once again I couldn't help pointing my camera at the ground, in search of an interesting view. :-) While people wondered why I was taking photos of tiny puddles, I was focusing on the iconic Flatiron Building in the reflection of some melting snow.

The original name of the Flatiron Building was actually the Fuller Building, after the company that built it, and the company's founder George Fuller. He was the father of the modern skyscraper, pioneering the use of steel, and also introducing the concept of a general contractor to oversee the entire building process.

The Fuller Company remained in business until 1970, but their name never really stuck to this landmark building. Due to its famous shape on a triangular plot of land, people persisted on calling this masterpiece the Flatiron Building until the name change finally became official.
