Photographer's Note
I used an f/22 to achieve a good depth of field and hopefully the trees in the distance are clearly seen yet pale in color values.
The stream's light begins in a blur but changes to a steady reflection as it reaches these distant trees.
This is taken down stream from Doane's Falls in central Massachusetts and is part of the 'Trustees of Reservations', an organization in Massachusetts that preserves these natural treasures.
It was a thrilling place to be, so calm and refreshing with wonderful trickles of light glimmering down between the leaves overhead.

i really like the change from the blurred water in the foreground, to the reflected water. it creates an interesting dynamic for me and gives the shot a sense of movement and change. nice colours and dof field too. well done!

This is an excellent composition, Kathy, and most unsual since you have allowed the water to dominate to great effect.
Super depth of colour and dof.
All 'round winner

Looks like a great place for soul searching. It reminds me a little of a stream in the Smokey Mountains. Nice shot Kathy. Keep em' coming!

Hi Kathy,
superb shot with wonderful exposure, depth and colours. I like the blurred effect of the water in the foreground and also the reflected water in the distance. The stream, the rocks and the trees give the photo wonderful perspective. Great composition and POV! Well captured!

Really beautiful, dynamic composition, Kathy. I'd say that the water has just the right amount of blur. It displays an almost "smoky" quality in the foreground and the ripples still retain detail in the distance. I think what brings the shot together are the ferns in the bottom right. The vibrant greens draw the viewer into the scene and beyond.
Nice job!

Hi Kathy
Good work. Using the long exposure you gave the water speed and made it more alive. One can have an impression that it is possible to walk on this water. But most astonishing is the place. When at last I could take my eyes off this magic water, I noticed how beautiful are the banks of the creek.
Cheers

Superbly done, Kathy. Great combination of small apreture and pretty slow shutter speed. A very well defined image with tremendous depth of field and colour. I love the well lit rock and fern in the bottom right corner. To me, your best photo yet.

Andrew

Beautiful capture of this running stream, Kathy. I love how it flows forward from the light through the distant opening in the trees. The rocks are perfectly placed in your composition and there is just enough luminescent green to cheer the shadowed woods.

Hi Kathy,
Your photo conveys the sense of being in the forest by a stream very well due to the excellent DOF and sharpness and for the reasons mentioned in your note. You've actually critiqued your photo well: "the trees in the distance are clearly seen yet pale in color values"(showing the light through the trees effect, that I love) "The stream's light begins in a blur but changes to a steady reflection as it reaches these distant trees...." in a way that draws the eye through the tunnel of trees. "so calm and refreshing with wonderful trickles of light glimmering down between the leaves overhead." Just Wonderful!! It's a favorite for me
