Photographer's Note

While waiting for the start of Night Blast and laser show, I came across these motorcyles all neatly in a row in the parking lot. Black Hills seems to be a magnet for bikers. Talking to one of them, I was told the area has the best roads for biking.

In fact, the area is host to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, held annually in Sturgis, South Dakota, for ten days usually during the first full week of August. It was started in 1938 by a group of Indian Motorcycle riders and was originally held for stunts and races. Attendance has historically been around one half million people, reaching a high of over 700,000 in 2015.
