Photographer's Note

Lincoln Park Zoo, Chicago

I saw this group siting in front of the window to the polar bear's pool. I was looking for any idea to submit for a street photography class assignment when I chanced upon them... the kid in green wasn't part of the group. The group was patiently waiting for their dad (not in the photograph) to take a photo of them with the polar bear behind. The bear of course was not cooperative. Eventually, he got the shot that I also got.

From the Lincoln Park Zoo website:

The Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago is among the oldest zoological gardens in the country (established in 1868), it also is among the most modern—a leader in wildlife conservation, community education and recreation.

A premier Chicago attraction, Lincoln Park Zoo each year welcomes more than 3 million visitors, providing them with remarkable learning experiences as well as fun and enjoyment. Its intimate setting enables guests, young and old alike, to experience the thrill of gazing directly into the eyes of a western lowland gorilla and standing toe to toe with a black rhinoceros.

And the best is ... it is free!!!

The original was taken in raw and processed to achieve a Velvia film effect.
