Hello Sue,
This is a beautifully composed photo, although somewhat disturbing with that stylized pistol painted on the wall — especially in light of the recent film, Argo. The two women walking offers powerful testimony to the transformation of Iran. In the late 70s I had several university students from Iran who used to criticize the Shah's Iran. A few years later they were all saying, "Out of the pan into the fire!"
Warm regards,
Bulent

wow! Great photo that is truly telling! I lived in Iran before and during the revolution. Is this a recent photo?
Thanks for sharing.

Hi Sue.Firstly welcome to TE.The image could be ruffling a few feathers but only for those individuals who swallow propaganda without questioning- and I mean from both sides of the spectrum. Bias is a difficult thing to control in oneself as we are all victims of government manipulation, wherever we live. If a culture does not stand up to globalization, its distinct features can be swallowed up by the predominant trendsetters and salesmen of "modernism/lifestyle", which is nothing more than cultural imperialism and profiteering at the expense of another's identity. The Iranians are holding on to their identity but at a cost. Yet we are all paying our dues in some form or other wherever we live.i do not know of a place where people are free, whatever that means.
The image is thought provoking. Some will see it as that, for others it will reinforce their prejudices.
As for the image itself, in the thumbnail the shadows and light were more pronounced and more powerful. I shall do some minor adjustments and you can judge whether there is an improvement. Regards. Klaudio.

Hi Sue
Welcome to TE! Hope you'll enjoy it
Driven by accident to your gallery by your post from Kirgyzstan. Except yours and the few tens I have in my own gallery, not many posts here on TE from this central asia republic
This one is really original and excellent. Totally unexpexted and somewhat provocative
I like this daily life situation
Nicely spotted and exploited
Best regards
Patrick

Hi Sue!
With the women coming from the opposite side you got a really original composition. Good and well thought street scene! I also like the adjustments Klaudio has made!
