Photographer's Note

Gorch Fock, the sail-training ship of the Bundesmarine (the German Navy), name after a poet sailor killed during the Jutland battle durring WWI. I have provided the technical data in a previous note.

She is also called now Gorch Fock II since the first of the name has been brought back to her homeland thanks to the efforts of Tall Ships' Friends Deutschland.

Gorch Fock is a large but finely designed three-masted bark, which serves as a trainig ship for officers and peety officers of the German Navy. She is always masterfully handled (when arriving to Rouen, I do not remember tugs were used for the harbour manoeuvers, a sure proof of seamanship mastery). The ship is perfectly maintained. Her figurehead is the Albatros, the symbol of the Horn Capers. Next we will spent a moment on board...

Gorch Fock, voilier-cole de la Bundesmarine, la Marine de guerre allemande, baptis du nom d'un marin pote tu lors de la bataille du Jutland pendant la Premire Guere Mondiale. J'ai donn ses caractristiques avec une photo prcdente.

Il est galement appel aujourd'hui Gorch Fock II depuis que son prdcesseur a t ramen dans son pays d'origine grce aux efforts de Tall Ships' Friends Deutschland.

Gorck Foch est un grand trois-mts barque finement dessin, utils pour la formation des officiers et officiers-mariniers de la Marine allemande. Il est toujours command de main de maitre (lors de son arriv Rouen, je ne me rappelle pas qu'il ait utilis de remorqueur pour les manoeuvres d'accostage, ce qui est un vrai signe de maitrise). Il est toujours parfaitement entretenu. Sa figure de proue reprsente l'Albatros, le symbole des cap-Horniers. Ensuite nous passerons un moment bord...
