Photographer's Note
I was in Rome 35 years ago, it was my first lonely trip i n Western country. I was then still quite young (from today perspective, it seemed to me I was old already) and blond, so when I stopped for a moment to see the map, at once someone wanted to guide me wherever I wanted to go. I liked it very much. The Italians were so curious about Poland, asked me many questions. And also told me many things. So in Piazza Navona I heard the story about Bernini and Borromini. When I came this time(in fact, I went to Piazza Navona every day) I remembered it all.
Piazza Navona is the most beautiful square in Rome. This is Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi or Fountain of the Four Rivers (1651) by Gian Lorenzo Bernini, and the base of Egyptian obelisque. Interesting how the language influence art. In Polish the river is feminine. In Italian it is il fiume - masculine. So all rivers are shown as old men.
The rivers are: the Danube, the Ganges, the Nile, and the Rio de la Plata, on four continents. Didn't they know Mississippi, or it would be wrong symmetry?

Hello Malgo,
A nice little anecdote to accompany this pleasantly lit composition. I like the framing and lovely warm colours and textures. The sky did you no favours but this more than made up by the rest of the image.

Bonjour Malgorzata

Saluti

Hello Malgorzata,
I read somewhere recently that whatever you do in Rome, don't have dinner at Piazza Navona (an expensive tourist trap with bad food). I think I did on my very first night in Rome, but never again. Otherwise it's a great place for enjoying the crowds in the evenings and this statue is an important part of the atmosphere. You have captured it very nicely and handled the somewhat difficult light well. The colours are great.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hi Malgo
its pretty easy to enjoy this, who wouldn't!
the skyline in the bg is overexposed but the light on the actual fountain is perfect. we can see every muscle haha
its also nice to see how the water is a cool green color.
Oh how I wish I were here!!!
enjoy your weekend

Hello Malgo,
Good capture of the architecture of this famous square with the statues of the well-known fountain predominant on the foreground. Good combination of the many warm tones of the buildings and the fountain with the green of the water.
Best regards, Paul

Dear Malgorzata,
I too have the reaction each time to seeing the Piazza Navona. On April 29, CJ and I walked around the piazza, as part of the mob milling around, shoulder-to-shoulder. If they had known about the Mississippi, I imagine, they would have had five-fold symmetry, instead of four-fold symmetry.
On April 10, did we miss each other merely by a few hours in Dubai?
Warmest regards,
Bulent
