Photographer's Note
This is the first of two panels, featuring the same subject, that decorated the south side of the tower at the palace. The personage in captivity is Ni' Sak Kamay, a sajal (noble/governor) from the Mayan centre at Piedras Negras, 90 kms SE of Palenque on the Usumacinta River, and now just over the border in Guatemala. He was captured by a Palenque noble, Sawal Chak Suutz (Red Bat), with the event occurring between 723 and 729 CE. These panels are among the museum's collection.

What a fantastic panel. The side lighting (from the top) sure helps bring out the details in the relief.
Acknowledging my weakness in resisting PP, I might have been tempted to address the different color temperatures from top to bottom. Maybe the easiest approach would be a straight desaturation? Your thoughts are solicited!
