Photographer's Note
Chichen Itza was one of the largest Maya cities from the Late Classic(c.AD 600–900) and into the early portion of the Early Postclassic period(c.AD 900–1200). The city may have had the most diverse population in the Maya world, which could have contributed to the variety of architectural styles at the site.
Chichen Itza is a UNESCO World Heritage Site archaeological sites. In 2007 Chichen Itza's El Castillo(shown here)was named one of the New Seven Wonders of the World after a worldwide vote.

Hello Marlene,
I love this shot of the Castillio from the Toltec side of the Chichen itza. You chose a vantage spot the reveals some of the best details, including the angle of the rise. You probably read, or were told by guides, that each of the four staircases has 91 steps, for a total of 364; then there is one step all the way around at the top, completing 365, emblematic of the length of the year. The amazing thing is thing is that the Maya had pinned down the length of the year as 365. 242 2 days, more precise than the Gregorian Calendar we use with 365. 242 5 days. We know from modern technology that the length of the year to five decimal places is 365.242 199.
Warm regards,

Hello Marlene,
Very interesting cropping whereby the different lines of the pyramid provide a nice graphic design.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Marlene,
This is a fine composition. I like how you have cropped it across the pyramid, leaving its height a secret and mainly underscoring the vertical, horisontal and diagonal lines of the building. Seeing it from so close also helps us understand better how steep those steps actually are and the effort it takes to climb them. I would probably prefer to stay on the ground. The three groups of visitors give us life and colours and some understanding of the dimensions. They are also neatly scattered across the view and thus balancing the composition.
Kind regards,
Gert

Gidday Marlene,
Interesting Chichen Itza vision for showing a portion of the enormous pyramid with tourists in tow.
I am always intrigued by pyramids whether ancient or modern and enjoy others' perspectives.
Have an excellent Autumn,
Cheers,
Ray
