Photographer's Note
The aqueduct of Xalpa, also known as Arcos del sitio (arches of the site), was built entirely in stone, it is 430 meters long, with 43 arches on four levels and a maximum height of 62 meters.
Its construction began in the early 18th century, under the direction of the Jesuit. The works were interrupted in 1767 due to their expulsion from the New Spain that year. Finally was completed in 1854.

Hi Pedro
we don't have any aqueduct's here in Canada...so I really enjoy viewing these. its amazing its still standing, considering there must have been earth quakes at some point. attractive contrast with the brooding sky and bright green grass. cheers

Hola Pedro,
Imposing sight of the aqueduct, a monument that we can nowadays understand ancient wisdom about water delivery in past eras.
Buenas dias,

Hello Pedro,
Wow! It's also possible to cross this aqueduct on its highest level.
That must be an experience!
Excellent capture with the surrounding nature and the ravine over which the aqueduct runs.
A quite dramatic sky on top!
Best regards, Paul

Hello Pedro, Fantastic aqueduct, like the Roman aqueducts in Europe. I see that it is possible to go on it. Excellent presentation.

Hi Pedro,
I almost thought this photo was taken in England. The ancient Roman appearing structure but also the dark clouds in the sky made me think rather of Northern Europe than Mexico.
Great work,
M
