Photographer's Note

Teotihuacan is 50km northeast of Mexico city and in my opinion should be visited by everyone who gets a chance. Teotihuacan is the site of some pretty impressive pyramids, including the Sun and Moon pyramids. My photo is of the Sun pyramid, the third largest pyramid in the world (only Cholula and Cheops are bigger). The base is 222m long on each side and the pyramid currently stands at 70m. The pyramid was built around AD100, from 3 million tonnes of stone, brick and rubble, without the use of the wheel, metal tools or pack animals. Originally the pyramid would have been covered in red plaster and it would have been used to worship the sun. You can climb the 250ish steps to the top of the pyramid to get a great view of the whole site of Teotihuacan. A must see if visiting Mexico (just don't let the hawkers get you down!).

Tech: Cropped, levels adjusted, saturation tweaked and sharpened.
