Photographer's Note
One last shot from my trip to Lake O'Hara. This one gives an overview of the lake itself, as seen from Opabin Prospect. The Lake O'Hara Lodge can be seen on the upper left corner of the lake, on what looks like an island. There are great hiking trails around the lake and up to the nearby mountains, with something for every skill and fitness level. Near this spot I saw a Mountain Goat, but unfortunatly he wouldn't pose on the rock for me, so I had to settle for a person.

Hello Alvin,
Gee, there are so many beautiful places in the world!
I'll never be able to at all these places!
Excellent shot, with great DOF, point of view and colors.
My only concern is about the girl's red coat...
It catches the eyes, so we look at instead of looking at the lake and montain.

The person that you got there in the foreground is a very photogenic lady. Here red coat gives an excellent contrast to the most stunning colors of this gorgeous landscape.

Well well Alvin what an amazing capture from up above. I like the human non goat fill in aspect on this scene. The view is totally stunning for the soul who loves the outdoors. This perspective from up above is really amazing....thanks for sharing. Sorry I cannot offer any suggestions for improvement. This is one of your finest Alvin!

I like the POV. Her red jacket is very eye-catching and contrasts nicely with the green and blue of the scenery. I kind of wish she were facing the other direction, looking out into the scene as we see it, instead of facing to the right. However, this is a very precarious cliff and I admire the daring on both of your parts in order to achieve such a photo.

Another superb shot Alvin;
This POV with the woman on the edge of the cliff gives great depth to the shot, and the wide angle lens captures everything nicely. Nice colors, but wish it was a bit sunnier below the cliff to show off more detail. Couldn't you do something about the cloud Alvin? Hahaha...
Cheers mate,
- Dan

Hi Alvin. Well maybe in this case the person is an even better choice than the mountain goat as a foreground interest. Again a beautiful photo to illustrate the scenic splendor of Lake O'Hara, conveying the grandeur and peace of the scenery in a good way. Nice layering in the composition to build an impression of depth with the view across the lake and all the way back towards the valley. Very nice shot.

While the photo certainly is very good - exposure, sharpness etc, I was wondering if maybe the pose of your friend should have been different. Maybe if she was standing up, or at least sitting a little bit more to the left so that she wouldn't 'blend' into the bush.
Thanks

Hello Alvin! Ahh, very beautiful scenery here, makes me wish I get up to visit Canada someday. So close yet so far when you have so little vacation.
Anyway, techincally it's a really good photo. The exposure, focus, and sharpness are all great. The composition is good too but I must admit I found the woman's orientation unusual. I guess I expected her to be facing more to the mountain in the background than to the right. It's like she's not looking into the scene which creates a little tension for me. Also, I might suggest cropping the right a little tighter so to omit the pines needles that seem to appear out of nowhere on the very upper right.
But of course this is all very beautiful as is!
Regards,
Doug

Superbe paysage, Alvin! Le personnage parait tellement fascinι par cette merveille qu'il en oublie de regarder le photographe et, pour moi, cette prιsence est un plus pour cette belle photo aux couleurs splendides

The goat would have been better in most ways, but it wouldn't have been wearing red.
I like the very wide angle here, to give plenty of foreground. It really gives a feel for how high and how perched on an edge you are. Beautiful scenery for sure!
In early November I'll go to Banff for a week for a conference. Any suggestions on what to photograph?
Regards, Ken

I love your picture of the great outdoors, Alvin. You have a relationship with the Canadian wilderness that shows in your pictures. The composition of this one seems almost too perfect, with its dramatic foreground, the blue lake in the middle distance, the forest below and the mountains wrapping around. Every element perfectly set out. Regards Kevin.

Hi Alvin,
Like our other critiques, I find this photograph outstanding. The POV looking down at the lake is dizzying. The woman on the rock adds great DOF to the photo; the colors are stunning, and the detail in the clouds shows your excellent light management. To me the photo is more balanced with a bit cropped off the bottom; at about the edge of the jacket.

Hi
I assume it's not somebody you know, so I think her pose is good for the picture. You've just caught somebody sitting and admiring this beatiful vista - I coluld also spend there a lot of time just looking.
The shadow of a heavy cloud making the second lake and forest really dark is very intriguing.
Take care

I'm wondering if the walker is really necessary... Will never know. Whatever, the background is simply amazing. Colors, light, beauty... It's really attracting. I wish I could see that for real ! Great light.

Hi Alvin,
This is a really superior quality landscape shot. Wonderfully deep colour tone and the placement of the lady in the foreground is inspired, although her stance seems a little posed. Her positioning and red jacket give tremendous depth to the composition. The scenery is exactly as I imagine Canada to be. I wish the left wasn't so dark though, so we could see the detail in the trees. Well done. Best wishes, Vicky

Hi Alvin,
How superb ! A very deep and contemplative perspective on this lake you have already presented a number of time, but how could we get tired of this incredibled water. Unlike Doug I don't mind the person here, okay her orientation may not be the most desirable one but I like how her red jacket works well against the lake greens.
Have a nice day,
