Photographer's Note
He was immersed in a Martin Amis novel and didn't mind me taking a few pictures of him at one of my favourite cafes. He was a curious yet serious-looking guy, with half of his head shaven, half crowned with flame-hued punky hair, and with elaborate tattooes all over the exposed parts of his thin body. His eyes, which I wish I had been able to capture, also looked burning. The black t-shirt he wore read "Watch me burn"-- and indeed he did seem to, especially in front of the orange-red walls of Planet Cafe.

A nice portrait shot, I think theres a couple of things which really make this photo work. The orange background which gives the general image some life, and the tattoo on his arm which gives him a lot more character, as otherwise it would just be a kid with a bad haircut reading a book.
Would have been interesting to see some closeups of his tattoo actually, the design and colour particularly on the top part of his arm looks pretty damn good.

Sasa,
A great potrait i love the image of the harcore tatooed punk rocker sitting down and having a cup of coffee and losing himslef in a Martin Amis novel ( Which one was it?). There is something very poetic about this image. An excellent shot which i cant stop looking at.
Cheers

An icon I am, an Icon would like to be. What I like is the sense of freedom in this photo. Be yourself as far as you dont hurt anybody (even sometimes if you do because of his/her/their intolerance). I have enjoy this photo Sasa, keep enjoying it. Take care.

Sarolta
I rather like the other one,posted on flickr, so far.
Don't mean this one is not a good portrait; but the competition is too hard.
Have a nice day

Great looking guy and a picture that does him justice, the background colours is as you say perfect and the tilt works very well for him. Great subject and great photographer ;o)

a curious looking person, i really like how you presented him completely drawn into the book he's reading, the way he's calmly focusing on it stands in such a great contrast to the seeming chaos around him- the fiery hair style, clothes, tatoos, and the colour of the wall is so strong here, matching the inscription on the T-shirt. lucky you he had no objections photographing him:-)
take care

Bonjour Sasa
Excellent portrait.
il semble calme, mais il dιgage une ιnergie folle. le cadrage et les couleurs donnent le tonus. c'est trθs bien fait.

Sarolta,
Again, a fine balanced composition and an interesting portrait.
I like the repeating hues of orange/red, the tilt and his finger on the page that helps him concentrate better on his reading.
Wonder if he's trying to remember to meet someone at 6.30 or is it just another tatoo on the inside of his wrist?
;-D

Splendid mood Sarolta!
I like the tilt here, it gives all the dynamism needed for this static compo.
Excellent gesture, colors and light.
Well done.

Hi Sarolta.

hi sasa,
the best thing in this image, imho, is that diagonal thing this image looks even more freak with the strong tilt;
this is an excellent portrait, twisted, strong;
love it;
best, j.

Hi Sarolta, i'm agree with you note. the orange-red wall is really perfect to have a dramatic and strong contrast with the man in balck!
many years ago when i was teenagers there were many guys in Milan that were dressed as him. they were called Darks, and were really similar as look at him.
great shot.
thanks, ciao

Great capture. Nice subject-- very interesting character. Nice colors, detail, and perspective. The tilt of the camera is very appropriate for the subject. Good lighting too.

Sensational, Sasa. A study in red, a study in flames. This is so cool and tightly knit. You have one of the smoothest approaches to subjects on TE, my friend - I sneak shots like a thief most of the times which adds to my stress levels for a start...;o)
Seriously, what a concentrated, unified shot this is, one of your very best.
Cheers,
Francis

Ceraintly an intersting subject, and how kind of him to let you use his arm to give an intersting strong diagonal for the compo.

Intense shot. The "Watch me Burn" matches the red wall behind him...his hellish look is edgy and full of attitude. The eyes would have been a bonus for sure, Im sure they have a very intense appearance. You dhould have told a fib and said he was reading Dante's Inferno:)

Great tilted concept take, Sarolta! The vivid colors of his head and wall behind him contrast well with his black shirt, concentration and the open book. These aspects are combined into a contrastic idea which we may find it surprising - a punk reading a book. Yes, they read books among other things...
:)
TFS!

Sometimes it is sad how much time/money/energy people invest in isolating their self from other individuals...But, then again, thats my own opinion!

brilliant! these burning reds..! and how lucky were you with the hair and the tatoos! almost "too good" because of the slight posed feel (which of course i know it's not :-)..) if i'd have to nitpick i just wish we could see a bit more of the hand and the word "watch" for an even stronger effect.

You must have spent a whole week end in a punk cafι this time? a punk easter maybe? this color shot is even better than the previous one IMO, maybe also due to the color which brings another dimension...The BG is stunning! Love this red color!!

Hi Sasa,
Great portraits you have taken of this colourful guy. I think I prefer this one from "Reading Martin Amis". Nice and concentrated face and BEAUTIFUL hair and tattooes. A complete image - love how the orange colour is everywhere.
:) Tina
