Photographer's Note
Purple Cow is a little store making and selling fudge and various sweets. It was a Saturday morning and the fudge maker was taking a small break, looking out to the street with an expression that signalled to me he may have seen much more than Ottawa's Bank Street in his life. I was a bit shy taking his picture and resolved to hide behind the Nikon aimed at my own reflection to show I was just playing with the latter. It was only when I got home looking at my shots that I realized he wasn't fooled and kindly just went with the flow, humoring me...

Haha, this is funny There is no need to be shy when taking photos and from the look of the guy, he is wondering why he is not the star attraction of this photo. Really well composed I think and a good conversion to B&W. I am puzzled by how the man is semi transparent, with the mirror behind him showing through his arm. I really can't quite figure it out and that probably adds more charm to the photo. I don't quite care for the reflection across his belly as much, but I think that is a trifling detail and doesn't hurt the photo much at all. Good shot Sarolta.

I am amazed how you got this picture. Your reflection is crystal clear! How did you do it? The composition is perfect… as always. You give us time to look at both views of the same picture: the photographer and the subject. His expression is wonderful, very inquisitive, looking the viewer straight in the eyes. Superb black and white.

Hi Sarolta
Funny self portrait. Looks really good thanks to the division down the middle. That look in his eye is great. He was really posing ;-) I like how some parts are so sharp and others transparent.

Hi Sarolta,
I just took a look at your gallery and I like your style, especially this kind of reflection shots. This B&W one is well composed. I like the face of this guy (may be thinking :"why am I so special ?) and how you got a really clear left side.
Thanks for sharing,
Fanny

Very cool shot again, Sasa. Great posture and attitude captured in the fudge maker, and a very clean ½-and-½ division of the frame with your own reflection at the right. I find it much easier to take photos with people here in Japan, but yours looks like an approach that might also work back in Europe ;) Beautiful b&w tonal range, I like it. Greetings from Kobe, JP.

Hey I saw this one on Flickr and it amused me.
And it is now time to give critic...
Short one becouse I said it before, I love the way you use the reflection as a game, and this image goes to its paroxism. Who is the guy looking at? I got the answer, he is looking at you, through a mirror. The effect of those crossed views is impressive.

Narcissic humour, sarolta? Tired to shot and not be shoted?
I am joking....
Ambivalent picture; what is he thinking in this moment?
I like the partition half for him, half for you or what you show of you.
Regards
PS: have you take a look on my girafees?

Sasa,
A fantastic double potrait if i may call it that! The chef is obviously well aware of your incentives and playing it very cool. The reflection is so clear they must have spotless windows. The composition is perfect and the focus spot on. The half anf half division really really works. This is a very impressive image
Cheers

Hi sasa,
nice to meet you ! ;-)
Your pictures are so great... really...
I really like the way your model is looking to you.
He communicates with his glance.
Your b/w tones are so good, too.
Well done

in fact he looks being quite smart so surely he was not fooled;
what is more - the grimase on his face incicated that consciously he posed for the image, and i'd bet it was not for the first time :-))
in fact - he's got quite an interesting face;
nice surprise, wasnt it?
best wishes, jerzy

That is such a naked, revealing shot, Sasa, you know, this kind of situation. His look says it all. Brilliant, and very brave of you to post this :o)))
I can sense a "blush" suffusing this entire scene.
Outstanding statement,
Best,
Francis

What an awesome shot. The composition here is brilliant and very original. Just love the way it shows photography in full effect, from the photographers point of view and the subject all in the one shot.
A favourite for me!

Hello Sarolta,
This is a really cool shot and it's nice to know it has a bit of a story too ;)
I particularly like the pose the guy is making... somehow it seems more friendly than you might have got if you walked right in and asked him outright.
Thanks for sharing. Lewis.

You were shy to take a picture Sasa? I dont believe it:)
But we atleast get a glimpse of you here, which is a treat itself. A self portrait in a way, but a better one, because its you doing what you do best.

I think this is really amazing. I love it.
It is almost cubist in the sense that you are seeing both sides at once. you see what he sees and what you see at once, well done. The compostion of having you both in different planes really helps this shot work so good.
It is really really good. I am putting it in my favorites straight away.

full marks for this one! would be a great, timeless portrait by himself, that proud, confident look of a business owner you'd see on photos from decades ago... the way the photographer was inluded in the frame with the glimpse of the neighborhood is just perfect.. another favorite from you.

Great post, Sarolta! The combination and merging of your model is almost hard to be distinquished, but even so, the contrast is totally amazing! The relaxed, even self humoured, model against the concentrated and tense artist - very amusing! The B&W is at place, enhancing the facial expressions.
BTW, nice to meet!

Oh Sasa it is so funny but also so well done!! The man looks so serious, he feels himself a great model!
And as other times you devide your picture in two sides, putting a line in the middle to better compone the division. BW remarks strongly this way of componing - you do it very well!
Ciao!

Hi Sasa,
What a lovely shot. Love the way he looks at you. Also, as Norbert noted, nice division of the frame in half and half... (I see myself forced to repeat his words, since he often notes practically all one wants to say/notice in a photo). Also, nice tonal range...
Love the portion where the reflections are murky.
