Photographer's Note
This is an image of the "Church of St. Nicholas (1889) located in the Sproxomin native village near Douglas Lake in the British Columbia interior. As it goes with many older buildings in our country, because they were constructed of wood, they are decaying with time. This one is no different, and it appears that even basic repairs like a leaky roof are not being tended to. I liked the very rural and quiet ambience here as this old church continues to be a stately visual presence in this community. There are some images where they have an immediate visual impact, even as a thumbnail, but it's difficult to explain why or what is having the effect. For me this is one such image.
The colours are strong and well saturated, the dark hills help segment the image without fragmenting it (if that makes sense), and the position of the church itself is ideal.
Very nice work.

Bonjour Gerald,

Allτ Gerald!
Tιmoin du passι, cette petite ιglise bien prιsentιe ΰ surement eu des plus beaux jours. La Madone devant semble encore la protιger. Excellente composition et superbes couleurs.
Fιlicitations!... et bonne semaine,

Hello Gerald,
A blue statue is welcoming visitors in the church amidst the brown fields. A fine detail in this photo with a somewhat strange atmosphere, you wonder why the church has been dropped amidst the open fields...

Hi Gerald
I am sure I have photographed this church before but probably on film. Nicely done with the church being well placed in the scene. The colours are also rich and visually grabbing. A good mix of the golds and blues.

Hi Gerald,
Well composed and excellent color tone/contrast!
It's interesting for me to see old church that has built alone in the rural, this photograph is composed of the combination of good colors(ground/slope with brown, church with white wall/green roof, deep green mild mountain and blue sky). And, thin cloud draws out a good effect for the whole, I think.

Hello Gerald! What a cute little church and I am just trying to picture it when there were better times, maybe Christmas Eve 1890 when the lights were clicked on and the people of the village were waiting outside, having a little chat before the mass began, light snow fall maybe and ice cold ... I love rural scene, as you explain it, a special ambience. Very nice ... have a wonderful week, Barbara.

It seems so strange having it in what seems to be the middle of nowhere so no wonder it has been neglected. Interesting to see the Madonna statue still standing outside. The light is good and the autumnal colours make a wonderful background.

Hi Gerald
Une belle mise en valeur entre les couleurs chaudes de la vallιe et le bleu du ciel, elle fait tout un charme dans ce paysage, dommage qu'elle ne soit pas mieux entretenue
Good day

Bonjour Gerald,
outre ce trθs beau sujet principal, je suis sιduit par cette sιparation de la photo entre ce ciel bien bleu et ces teintes paille au sol.
Une photo qui ne manque pas de profondeur et trθs soignιe dans ses lumiθres.
My best regards.
Daniel.

Hi Gerald,
Love these old wood churches that can be seen all over the countryside of North America.
This one really stands out beautifully against the golden plains and distant green hills that contrast so brilliantly with the cloudless blue sky.

Hello Gerald!
Beautiful capture of this beautiful and unfortunately abandoned church, that seems to be in the middle of nowhere! simple but excellent composition and framing, flawless light management, beautiful colours!

Hi Gerald,
This has your name all over it. Very rich and deep color and tones, wonderful contrast.
Such a charming little rustic church, out is nowhere, very humble and down to earth, the broken windows and torn roof. But what a setting, like a movies set. Beautiful composition, great placement of the church.
Thanks.

Hello Gerald,
It's a shame that this church is completely destroyed reach, if not repaired, all architectures, merit preservation.
It is a somewhat bleak picture with broken glass in the middle of the vast field.
Excellent colors and details.
Best wishes,
Charo

Hi, Gerald -
A lovely shot with powerfully strong colors. Even though the steeple is in the exact center of the photo, it doesn't look overly balanced, because the church building on the right corrects for that.
Best,
Dan

Hello Gerald,
The strong clean colours and the simplicity of the composition explains the attraction value of this fine image!
It is rare to see a church in this state, as the last thing any community stops to maintain often is the house of worship...
A balanced composition with good details!
Greetings,
Pablo -
