Morning George,
Crap why did you have to mention how many days I have left? I haven't even started shopping nor have I started hugging strangers on the street! I better get started! I don't think I would be trying to hug this guy but maybe that's why he has the fist? He doesn't look like one to tango with, that's for sure. What made you switch to the Nikon versus the Canon?
Seasons Greetings,
Mel

Hi George.
A grea piece of street photography. The background - people walking about, wet pavements and other detritus are all just as they should be.
And then there's him. HIM. And boy does he look like a load of fun. Fists clenched and a face like daggers!
I know we mustn't judge but it's difficult not to. His nose looks like it has scrape marks on it and his jacket looks like it's seen better days. Probably not a boy scout, then?
And yet, how old is he? Mid-teens? What is it about the world that makes youngsters look like hard, weather-worn old gangsters?
Christmas? Good will and peace to all? Clap-trap. It should be all year round.

Your images have such a different feel from most of the other images on TrekEarth. Very moody and powerful, very human. Makes me think about digging up some of my old negatives from my street-photography days in New York City, circa 1974.

Great image. I love the way you have framed it. The sores on his nose make his hard, untrusting expression (like an explaination)which is finished off nicely as your eye moves down to his anxious hands....resting upright against the shop window for the personal ease of knowing that his back is covered. Well seen!

George...one of your strong, strong pics. A dramatic one. A tragic one. Oh, that eyes! Grande Jurek! Bravissimo, sai? This is one of your (many) pics about I think: " Yes, the Polonaise is the new Cartier-Bresson".

I look at your photo and I have that feeling of knowing this place. It is familiar. So similar of one of the streets of my own city. I've walk that wet sidewalk, I've seen those fists and that look, the garbage can, the passersby, I've felt the cold, the humidity going through my bones...
The only difference? You took the photo where I might not have dared. That makes you a real street photographer.
I like those eyes looking at you, I like those fists tightly closed. More because of the cold, I think, than of anything else.
To hug a stranger in the street? No. I won't. But I promise that I will hug all the people that I love and care for. How's that? :)) And I might even take good photos of them! We never know!

Dobre, mocne, juz raz pisalam.
Przedwigilijnie zacisniete piesci i odrapany nos, spojrzenie, miasto, on i ty...
Bardzo "bogate" zdjecie, pieknie wykonane.
Pozdrawiam. Grazyna.

Wtedy: Scenka uniwersalna.

Witaj,
Niesamowite. Ktoś na tej ulicy niedawno dostał łupnia. A Ty go znalazłeś.

Don't want to copy here what I wrote back then or even to re-read it : anyway, I'm as moved as when I saw it the first time.
Hugging a stranger ? The guy seems on the defensive and does not seem ready for it, but why not talking to him and see what happens ? The worst is our indifference...
Another one that I liked so much, great message !

Serdeczności i uściski T."

Hi George,
Glad to see you back. You have shown quite clearly the harshness of this little guy's life. So what did he do when you hugged him with your camera. He looks a little mistrustful of you but not really frightened or angry so I'm guessing he felt the hugging intent of your work.

Excuse me? What did you say? To hug someone whom I don't know on the street? Are you crazy? In what world you think that you live. Here is the real world. Nobody touch each other. Nobody care for the others problems. Everybody thinks is the most important.
But for sure I would love this moment to give a hug to Mr Johny Lee Hooker, the music of whom Ι hear this moment (I know I can not, he is dead), to give a hug to you for these four lines magic message you send to us, to give a hug to the first ...beautiful girl I will meet on the street..!!
Good night brother and stay as you are, we need you.
