Photographer's Note
Trial Island Lighthouse is at the entrance of Victoria Harbor, BC, Canada. I saw this Island from a boat during a whale watching tour. Though I had seen the photos of Island in the internet, watching the freshly painted lighthouse was a beautiful experience.
The Island got its name from the practice of British naval ships sailing for their trial run around this Island. Built in 1906, the local communities in region have been seeking a heritage status for the lighthouse.
The Island is an “ecological preserve as it has indigenous plants that can’t be found anywhere else, which is one reason why visiting the Island is not encouraged” (http://www.vicnews.com/neighbourhoods/oak_bay/246422301.html ).
The sky was partly cloudy during the boat ride and when I saw the background of the Island I could not make out whether it was sea or sky. Brightened and slightly saturated the image.
