Photographer's Note
This is one of my favourite spot in Banff National park. It is on Highway 1A between Castle Mountain and Lake Louise. I will never forget about this shot. I came here four times for this picture. Before the last time, I could not get the condition that I expected. Most of the time, the sky was closed in this area or the train went on the opposite direction. However, the first three times gave me the chance to think about the composition and how to take the shot. On the last time, I set up my camera on tripod and wait for about 45 miniutes. Then, I heard the sound from heaven. I saw the train came in the direction that I wanted so I continously pressed the shutter sine it was at the far end until passing by. Although I could not manage to get the dramatic sky, it is still the shot of my memory. All critiques are welcome as alway.

Hi Naret!
Nice shot - the composition is very well.
I think there is too much red on your picture. I did a WS to reduce the red-hue - hope you'll like it.

Very nice colours with this red train crossing a stuinning scenery! It expresses a nice movement with the train going in bows...
Well done!

This is very nice Naret, beautiful landscape, I think that every minute of your time was worth it. Of course the train is a great addition, I would love to go in this area one day, thanks for sharing.

Excellent composition and well worth the wait! The colours are good and the curve of the train leads the eye back into the picture. If anything, I think the dramatic sky you were looking for would have detracted from the scene. Well done.

Trθs jolie photo pour ls couleurs et le sujet. Je la trouve un peu petite, c'est bien dommage.

Really captures the essence of the Canadian Rockies. Makes me aware that great shots sometimes require planning and persistence and patience.

Good job to stay 45 minutes to get the train on this nice POV.
Many thanks for sharing with us

I know that spot as well, and I have taken shots of the empty track.
Your patience paid off handsomely. The sun was also in the right direction for this beautiful shot. The train was in the perfect position.
You might want to use a photo editing software to darken the highlights a bit so the mountain would not appear as washed out.
Nonetheless, a great shot. Admire your determination to get a great shot!

Certainly a great place for a train shot. Presumably this is the part of the CP route that no longer has passenger trains.

The slightly subdued colors add a touch of "old fashion" to the picture. The composition and the
DOF are perfect. Great!

A superb landscape with excellent color & saturation. I like the curve of the railway line & locomotive on a diagonal. Di maag!

Great shot you have here !
You have got to be patient, and lucky , to get a good one. Fortunately, it was well worthed. The train came on time , to provide you good light as well.
The workshop from Thohau does make it even better.
Cheers

Very nice landscape and great composition as well. The forest on the background is so dense that looks like a kind of sea.
Nice shot!

Lovely idealistic mountain train shot. Looking at the size of the engines (and that there's two of them), this is potentially a very long freight train.
The light and curve in the tracks are just in the right place for this composition with the lovely mountain background.

It is known as "Morant's curve" to honor the photographer Nicholas Morant who photographed from this spot over many years. You got a great shot here and I find the warm colors very pleasant. Unfortunately there are some technical issues with the posted image, presumably because of the reduced file size.

Hi Naret:
Lucky! That's all I can say. I raced along this road once to catch a train at this exact spot, but it was going the other way. This is a great shot--lighting, composition, subject. If only it were slightly larger it would be perfect. Great job.
