Photographer's Note

Richmond Hill, Ontario. Between 1986 and 1991 it grew 71%. That growth has continued unabated.

This is where my parents have lived since 2000. The family home sits on what was once the Oak Ridges Moraine. Once forest and farm land preserving natual water ways and migration routes for local wildlife, it is at the moment continually shrinking due to residential growth.

In the last provincial election the now premier vowed to stop all construction in no unclear words. Of course, once elected it was the first promise broken.

Ahh well then hmmm?

I have other photos from this area here.

The houses you see here are some of the older ones from before the population boom. You can still kindof get a feeling for what the place was like just a bit more than a decade ago. The abandoned lot here is for sale.

Post-pro: convert to b/w, levels, curves, sharpening (high radius), noise added.

***

As an aside, I have to get downtown and get some non-residential shots one of these days! All these pics of houses are driving me mad!!!!
