Photographer's Note
From the village of Shibam, in the Yemeni highlands, the old landrover wound its way up the steep hill, we stopped and picked up this old man, with this equally old looking rifle. Our destination, Kawkabam, is perched on the top of the hill over looking Shibam; built on an outcrop only accessible via a narrow causeway, which you can seen in front of the town's main gate. A great defensive postion.

Hello Steve,
A superb composition from incredible Yemen. The man and the road are very well placed and the village looks awesome. It's a fine scan as well, with well kept colours. Whereas my own slides are in a good condition, my relatively few print negatives are in a total mess.

On sent la fatigue dans le pas de l'homme qui se dirige vers le village tout en haut.Il aide beaucoup ΰ donner une trθs belle profondeur ΰ l'image.

We get very few pictures out of these area, also few out of this country.
Excellent picture this as scanned image.
A picture without care no bikers, alone a man walk to the village.
Very well composition, nice of colors too. TFS.

I find this incredibly interesting for its photojournalistic quality - pictures of this area are fairly rare. It is also a very good scan. The man with the rifle is walking into the picture helping us to look towards and into the village. An extraordinary picture of daily life.

Nice one Steve, pretty good quality as well. The man is interesting, overcoat, sandals & the 12 gauge slung over the shoulder, returning from rabbeting I suppose ;-) I like where you have him in the frame & the angle of the road leading to the village, it all comes together very nicely.

A brilliant shot of this hilltop village.I don`t recall seeing many photos from Yemen and I find it intriging.The man complete with flip flops on his feet is presumably going home to his wife and family.Wouldn`t it be great if we could get an inside view on his house. T.F.S.
