Photographer's Note
If this photo was taken in Switzerland, or France then I wouldn't have posted it. But I'm pretty sure this is the first time this little pond/lake has been posted on this site. The reason it is interesting, is this pond is located in the middle of the Haraz Mountains in Yemen. I took a three-day trek through this area, myself and a guide I found in the town Manakhah.
This was on our second day of trekking when he asked me if I liked to swim. I told him yes, and about twenty minutes later, he led me to this fresh-water pond. Yemen is a country in dire need of water, so this little resevoir of water was very interesting and unique. The water was a bit chilly but refreshing. We relaxed here for about thirty minutes laying in the sun by the water. It was the only thing resembling a lake I saw in the three day trek, with mostly dry landscapes with scattered villages.
Hence why I posted it, to show a different scene than one usually shown from Yemen.

Hi David,
Instructive Photographer's note on the location of a pond in a dry country.
Jean-Pierre
P.S. Very rich colors make this place a most unusual place where to swim.

Hi David. A very good shot of this rare sight in Yemen. An informative note too. The colour of water well managed. TFS. Partha

Hi David. By the look of the lush grass this must have been a bit of an oasis. Great photo. I love the colours you have captured in this shot. Good sharpness and fine details also. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers, Paul.

Hi David,
Indeed a very rare location considering this is Yemen, i would not expect to see such a green area over there.
Although the crop is tight, it gives a nice view over the water (good you included some foreground) and over the mountains in the background with a soft blue sky on top...very nice

Hi David,
Thanks first for showing us a very different part of the world (in terms of frequency). Nice colours and good DOF. Very interesting note as well.
Nice job!

A good composition with the rocks in the FG. The sky is lacking a bit of contrast. Maybe a polarizer could have helped.

Hi David again,
it's a pleasure to leaf through your Yemen gallery. I haven't seen many pictures about this interesting country. To see all this green stuff and the terasse cultures is a big surprise (of course one should know from geography lessons past that all is not desert in Yemen).
Thanks for the demonstration!
Best regards
Dietrich

Hi, David
Really eye-catching and well-composed, with pleasant colors and reflections. This is not the way Yemen is in my mind, indeed.
Thanks for your comments in my post, highly appreciated.

Hi David,
Water in a dry country is so much more appreciated that in other places.
Very interesting post and note - true TE way...
