Taken whilst on a dhow (traditional wooden boat) along Dubai Creek.
In the foreground are working dhow boats.
In the background is Bastakiya - the oldest residential area of Dubai. Amongst the narrow lanes. courtyards and historical houses you can see a mosque and several tall wind towers - these wind towers are a traditional form of air cooling. Before the days of mains electricity and air-conditioners they funnelled cold air into the houses.

Hello Marlene,
my first impression is: "total chaos"! but a second look told me: it's an "organized chaos". A third look says: the "chaos" of boats at the bottom looks similar to the "chaos" of various buildings at the top. Two different worlds coexisting and inseparable from each other. A perfect harmony - at least, as seen in this photo!
Very good composition. I also like the natural colours ;) Very good, interesting photo!

Hello Marlene,
This picture shows interesting contrasts between two sides of traditional lives in Dubai. It's almost like there are two pictures stitched together. A very nice effect.

Very interesting view of the Creek which is seen as busy area and shooting the scenery at close range shows some good details especially the boats.

Hello Marlene,
Very useful info on the wind towers.
In the picture they draw a line and stand in between the clutter of the buildings and boats.
