Photographer's Note
Yes I know, it's a weird photo, taken through the hail falling... I'd like to dedicate this photo specially to burGu after the funny remark that she made yesterday about my human-less photos (not sure that she will like this one, though - but cheers and hugs anyway, dear Burcu !)
(Too bad there was nobody, so this is a down-to-earth, "human-less" scenery. Just FYI, not trying to post something nice here... But how strange and wild and surprising nature in east Turkey can be, with violent hail falling suddenly in mid August !)
... I worked a lot on this one as there was much more noise in the sky ; last year, someone tried to ameliorate it but he told me that applying neatImage etc was impossible because the hail falling would not be visible ; he was right... So I blurred the sky with the blur tool locally, a long process only partially successful I fear.
For the circumstances of this photo, please read the note of the photo mentioned next link : a moment later, one could see this view, just a few km away and then from that POV, the sun finally appeared, with a faint rainbow.
A series of 6 (sofar) other photos from the same area here = along the road linking ηaldiran (above lake Van) and dogubeyazit (near Ararat mountain)

I like the atmosphere of this photo but not the climate of this country. :)
Something wild and severe...

Hey Cath,
Glad to see you change your motives a bit, from people to landscape - you are proficient at both. That`s an interesting theme - the hailstorm. I like the cropping, the perspective and of course - your bravery. :) Fine work.
Best regards.

Dear Cath,
Whatever you post here for me, I would like it anyway. But what you have posted is really much better than a "whatever post". I know you don't work so much with postprocess, and it is obvious that you tried really hard this time and result is very nice. So many thanks for your lovely and kind dedication. And just for your info.. I can't see any rainbows here :) But what about white particles on grass? Snow? Or am I dreaming again and again?
Cok tesekkurler Cath,
Sevgiler...

Dear Cath,
See!! you have done it again, a nature shot that is really really nice! Composition wise this is excellent,'cause the truck looks like it is going into oblivion. The hail looks good too.
Keep posting!
Best regards,

Very good POV and colors. Unusual phenomena indeed to see snow specs on the ground in August here. The light is quite strange too. I like it. Keep posting, world traveller :-)

hi Cath
So nice to see your landscape post once a while with your portraits. Surprising to see you shooting hailstorm but I suppose it is not painful or harmful to your camera with such tiny hail sizes.
I like the mood in this capture and you have composed it nicely to show the countryside.
I do not understand what is said about human-less by burGu or perhaps there is a missing linke, but I always think your portrait shots full of local color and tradition to show culture and style. Perhaps it may mean differently? Keep posting what you do best, ok?

Super.

Hi Cath, Interesting event you show us here, I remember Eastern Turkey as bitterly cold but I was there in April so to be expected. Must have been quite a storm. Your PP has worked well here, which is to say it isn't noticable and achieves a good outcome. Cheers, Steve

I don't know why you worry about posting landscapes; they don't all have to be blue skies. Even though I love your people photos I chose this one as you referred to it in your critique to me. I know rules are not there to be followed slavishly, but here you have followed the rule of thirds very well, with 1/3 sky and the rest the ground. You have a lorry on one of the thirds intersections and lead-in lines aplenty: the road, the verge, the wall, the cables. The hail decorating the image is a good feature and any PP you have done was successful as there is no tell-tale evidence. Well done
Kath
