Photographer's Note
Hopefully a different view of a very famous location. The area has been created by the calcite deposits from the mineral rich water. I like the contrast between the 'Cotton Castle', which can easily be mistaken for an ice glacier and the landscape beyond which helps put it in context. It is certainly one of the wierdest landscapes I have ever seen.
Hotels which had been built above the falls have since been demolished and work is underway to address the pollution caused, which has discoloured the surface in many area.

I am taking note of that for my up and coming trip to Turkey.
What an amazing world it is that this sort of thing pops up in the middle of no where!!

This is an amazing photo. At first glance, the formation does look like a glacier, until you look at it a bit longer and notice that people are wading or lying in pools. The white provides a wonder contrast with the lush greenery in the background.

This is a most beautiful shot Keith. It is special in the way it gives us a full view of the place, and in it's outstanding quality. Very well done!

This is a wonderful partner to the LP of the area - make sure that you include the link in your notes of each of these to each other. It seems that would be useful to those who are interested in the area. I like the wide green area behind this, really showing the unusual landscape you wrote about. I've never heard of this place before, and I thank you for sharing!

Hi Keith,
An interesting shot as it shows the surrounding area. I visited there once and I just remember having to walk up that slope with no shoes on, and my feet getting sore from all the little stones underfoot!! A great place nonetheless and a good photo too.

Great shot. People in the scene gives you a good idea about the scale of the place.
I was very happy to hear the hotels were taken down. They should never have been built, argh! so frustrating. I can see the discolouration in your other image. Still a great place to visit. TFS.

Hi Keith,
yes, that΄s a quite different view which gives more information as it also shows the surrounding area and the mountain in the background!
I can΄t believe there are so many people in the pools! When I visited that place (also in 2004 - August), the guide told us we mustn΄t enter the pools because they suffer from the tourists wandering around!
