Photographer's Note
Termessos is one of the most interesting ancient sites in Antalya. It's located inside the Gulluk Dagi National Park on the Taurus Mountains.
Probably due to its remoteness and inaccessibility, the city is one of the few places which Alexander the Great couldn't capture despite his siege in 333 B.C. All he could do in retaliation was to burn down the olive groves surrounding the town.
The inhabitants abandoned the city in the 5th century A.D. after an earthquake which destroyed a large part of the city. The most significant remains of the site are the fortified city walls, various towers, the Hadrian's gate, a gymnasium and a very well conserved theatre, tombs, temples, cisterns and drainage system. All of this is located in the mountains with a dense Mediterranean vegetation. The views from the theater, which had the capacity to host five thousand spectators, are magnificent.
Spread in the mountain there are more than 1000 tombs and sarcophagi, some of them presenting very well preserved roman inscriptions.

Hello Andrι,
Even from the thumbnail plus your name, I could tell that I was going to see Termessos, and I am not disappointed. In B&W the photograph works well, giving it a timeless atmosphere, as it should. If you don't regard it as meddling, I would like to suggest one decreasing the contrast a little bit, since the eye is more sensitive than the camera for making contrasts. Even in areas where it is dark, the eye can normally pick up details a little more. But, ultimately it is a matter of taste, and this photograph is fabulous. The note, moreover, is highly informative.
Incidentally, you mentioned that you were going to look for my book. The one that is most relevant is 'Math and the Mona Lisa,' now in 12 languages. Although your English is super, it is available in Spanish (it was released this past year by Almazura in Cordoba). Click on Math and the Mona Lisa, then scroll down to the array of 12 images. If I had an extra copy of the book, I would send it to you.
Warm regards,
Bulent
