Photographer's Note

This is a view of Hagia Efimia Greek Orthodox Church at Kadıky Marketplace. It was built in 1694. It was enlarged in 1830, renovated in 1993 and reopened for worship. According to Kadıky Life of January 02 2017, it was under renovations again.

A little internet search revealed that this church is dedicated to Saint Euphemia. Saint Euphemia was born in Chalcedon (modern day Kadıky). According to tradition, she was arrested for refusing to offer sacrifices to Ares. After suffering various tortures, she died in the arena at Chalcedon from wounds sustained from a she-bear in 304 A. D.


Ayia Efimia Rum Ortodoks Kilisesi

Bu, Kadıky Market'teki Ayia Efimia Rum Ortodoks Kilisesi'nin bir grntsdr. 1694 yılında yaptırılmıştır. 1830 yılında genişletilmiş, 1993 yılında yenilenmiş ve ibadet iin yeniden aılmıştır. 02 Ocak 2017 tarihili Kadıky Lifea gre tekrar yenileniyordu.

Biraz internet araştırması bu kilisenin Aziz Euphemia'ya ithaf edilmiş olduğunu gsterdi. Aziz Euphemia, Chalcedon'da (modern Kadıky) dnyaya geldi. Geleneğe gre, Ares'e kurban vermeyi reddettiğinden tutuklandı. M. S. 304de eşitli işkencelere uğradıktan sonra Chalcedon'daki arenada ayı yaralarından ld.
