Photographer's Note
Something from my archive.
Who doesn't dream about going to Petra, one of the seven world wonders. anyway, I dreamed about it and went to Jordan. But my experience was different as usual the people have from there. It was raining. In Siq not that much, but after, it was real disaster. Heavy rain, pea-sized hailstones, wind. I had to be
evacuated with some hundreds other tourists. But ...It was not so bad - I saw quite different Petra than usual, went back interesting path through the mountains, and I finally, saw Petra, some hours later the Siq was closed.
al-Siq is the main entrance to the ancient city of Petra in southern Jordan. The dim, narrow gorge (in some points no more than 3 meters wide) winds its way approximately one mile and ends at Petra's most elaborate ruin, Al Khazneh (The Treasury).
The Siq is a natural geological fault produced by tectonic forces and worn smooth by water erosion. The walls that enclose the Siq stand between 91–182 meters in height.

Dear Malgo!
Another country for you, I first thought! Then I saw this is from a couple of years back!
Amazing place & a different view from the usual ones we see from Petra. Imposing rocks, black streaks on red tones...the man gives good idea of the massive scale!
Best Regards
Angshu
PS : Seen any Football matches yet? :-)

Witaj Malgorzata,
very nice the view of this miracle of the Nature, with the rock formations and the colour tints of them to make the image unique.
The man looks so tiny and a good scale with the huge rocks.

Hi Malgo,
your visit to this wonderful place was an unforgettable experience, because of the adventure that you lived there.
The evacuation and the heavy rain had to be disagreeable enough, but before, you took this beautiful photo of the narrow gorge that allows the access to Petra.
People give a good reference of the dimensions of this incredible place, and the photo has a nice light and a few splendid colors.
A good work,
Best regards,
Josep

Hi Malgo,
Oh, I'd love to see Petra! Did you walk through the Siq and were you then confronted with a fabulous view of "The Treasury"? If so, it must have been wonderful.
But, despite your ordeal with the terrible weather, it didn't cure those itchy feet of yours!
Your photograph is wonderful and you have managed to convey the awesome height of this narrow fault or gorge - so well composed and with the inclusion of tiny people to give us a wonderful sense of scale and magnitude.
Fabulous colours, perfect lighting and exposure and stunning sharpness.
Fabulous!
Kind Regards,
John.

Hello Malgo,
une photo qui montre l'humilitι de l'homme face aux sculptures de la nature. Un des plus beaux parcs naturels oω on se sent si petit.
Une capture parfaite de lumiθres difficiles avec un rendu de couleurs trθs naturel.

Dear Malgo
Looks like a red version of Carnarvon Gorge in Australia, or Uluru / Kata tjuta or Arches NP in Utah! All are a delight for photographers. I am glad you were not injured in the flash floods. So far I have been lucky. I did get stranded in Kunming, China, for 25 hours in 2000, before the airport resumed flights after almost unheard of overnight snowfalls. Tfs!

Hello Malgo - An astonishing shot. The size of the people when compared to the cliffs is so well captured and in a way makes a great metaphor for man verses nature! I like your composition very much, the FG area really gives that feeling of being overpowered and overshadowed by the environment. Excellent. Warm regards rosemary+
