‘Kourion - How to avoid the ticket office’

Kourion, at the south coast of Cyprus, is the location of one of the most interesting archaeological sites of the island and at the same time it is the main paragliding site in the south.

The launch site for the paragliders is right next to the ruins of old Kourion (Curium).

The title of my picture is just a joke. It seems a little that the paraglider will glide through the arch. In reality he’s still further away.

Curium was an important ancient city-kingdom.
The antiquities site, located near the town of Episkopi on one of the most fertile spots of the island, has extensive ruins and famous well-preserved mosaics.
Dominated by an impressive Greco-Roman theater, it is also known for its public baths, the Nymphaeum, the necropolis, the Fountain House, the House of Gladiators and the House of Achilles.
