Photographer's Note

Hello Everyone,

This is another Lancashire textile mill; well, in fact, several textile mills. They are tall, many storied buildings and set against the running water which once provided power.

In this part of the country, the mills were constucted of local stone which gave them a recognisable character.
If you look at the roof on the left, you will notice a series of ridges. This type of roof allowed more light into the factory. It would be slated on each of the north facing ridges and have glass on each of the south facing sides.

None of theses factories is producing textiles now. There is a variety of uses, from furniture production to bespoke kitchens.
