Photographer's Note
The old mill at Langstone in Hampshire, England. Neville Shute the author and aircraft designed once lived here. When the bombs started dropping on Portsmouth during the second world war Neville Shute moved to this mill, which was owned by his close friend the artist Flora Twort.
The Royal Oak pub, which is about 500 years old, was originally four smugglers cottages and has been licensed since 1725.

There's something very classic about this one... I could just feel how old the places were, and was just waiting for a carriage to cross the muddy road... Well captured Michael!

Very nice scene, Michael, very British, great composition and good colours, maybe the foreground is "too close"...

The idea of the leaves in the foreground is good, but they seem to be a little withered and as Hanssie said, they are a little out of focus. Maybe you should have opened your diaphragm a little more. On the other hand, they frame the inn very well. A good shot on the whole.

This is a superbly composed photo; instead of relying only on the obvious architectural aspect (which would have been sufficient) you have incorporated the leaves on the left to give it a peculiarly Old World feel. One criticism I would make is the reflection off the leaves is distracting, although given how close and ''real'' they are, I suppose that was inevitable. Interesting Note too.

Good classic scene and nice colouring. I agree the leaves are a distraction. Very interesting note.

How well I remember sitting on the edge of that wall with my dad supping a pint when I was younger - he's now buried in the graveyard beyond the mill near Sir Alec Rose's grave. Now landlocked in Loughborough it's nice to see this place again portrayed so well. Many thanks!
