Photographer's Note
Hmmmm the last of the Hardwicke family (the 5th earl) spent all the money and lost the Wimpole estate in 1890.
Just thought I'd tell you that as this bust reminded me of being bust.
I took several shots that morning and one of these is this one. What I found quite nice here was that after scanning it I noticed the eyes had caught the suns rays more than the rest of the photo and this is no photoshop adjustment, tis true as you see

Those eyes look crazed ! Great capture of the morning light. Excellent quality of scan. POV ( and sculptor's depiction ) show him to be a profligate member of the upper crust. You're making me think I should try more early morning photography as it's the only way to get this quality of light.

I enjoy that strange light here. I thought it was an old shot, scanned and I'm surprised by the date !
Then, a strong mood, you composed and realized ok.

Hi Simon - hmm the subject is quite simple but there is something in the way that the bust is centred that gives it a graphic appeal, of course the low early light helps a ton, fantastic luck with the eyes catching the light.
