Photographer's Note
Wonderful light on the heritage coast last night. Two stop grad and circular polarizer used.

It is an impossible light, it is the drawing that there dreams the painter, an excellent composition. Without words.

This is really superb, Phil. What makes this really succesful is the dramatic light; the most dramatic pebbles I've seen.
Of course there's more to it than that; your composition is excellent and I like how the low viewpoint has given such prominence to the pebbled beach, but not at the expense of the other elements in the scene.
The sky looks a little unnatural, almost as if it was from another image; was it?
Still, it contributes to the dramatic atmosphere here.
Cheers,
Ben

Good timing, you have captured the wave just as it is about to roll. I think the title is spot on. The colours are beautiful. D id you have to lie down to make this shot? TFS. Best wishes Jean.

Fantastic colour and feel to this image Phil - it looks like the colour qualities of 30's -50's painted advertising images - such dramatic simplicity - lovely work ...and a belated welcome to TrekEarth.
best wishes Kev

Yep, it is fantastic light Phil, very impressive shot. The exposure/composition just perfect and the blur on the wave just right, a sense of motion but not too much.If you have a moment, could you please explain 2stop grad? i assume it is a filter in which the top half blocks out 2 stops worth of light to compensate for the brightness of the sky? Is that correct?
