Photographer's Note
Another shot from our Castleton to Commondale Walk on the North Yorkshire Moors. I noticed the old ruined stone-built barn. The stone walls in the photo are typical of the area. No mortar is used in their construction, but they last for years despite strong winds; it’s quite an art to build them. On the hillside behind, the lack of green isn’t barren land but heather, which, in about another 4 to 6 weeks will be a resplendent purple. I will certainly be out and about with my camera then.

Superbe vue d'un paysage ΰ la belle verdure et, il y a 100 ans le promeneur qui s'arrκtait ΰ cette endroit jouissait de la mκme vue, la barriθre seule ιtait diffιrente, et une cheminιe crachait sa fumιe, sans doute. La colline au fond doit κtre magnifique en fleurs.
C'est une belle photo que tu nous offre lΰ, et c'est vrai que le B&W du WS, nous plonge en arriθre.

I imagine it was a cool walk. The place seems lovely. I especially like the stone/wall texture in the foreground. Well composed with the natural frame.

Bonjour Kath,
un trθs joli coin de tranquilitι. TU as pas mal cadrι l'endroit, mais sur le plan des couleurs, les verts sont un peu trop saturιs, ΰ mon gout en tous cas.
Un bel endroit ΰ restaurer, pour une vie tranquille. Mais les conditions sont peut-κtre dures ΰ certaines saisons.

Impressive colour and sharpness. The detail is good and the composition has many elements of interest. The light is quite strong but you have managed it very well indeed as the details are not burnt out. Good colours and a nice use of the trees to frame the shot. Good work.

Amazing view Kath...I like the green here..so refreshingly fresh. The barn & the stone wall adds to the visual impact. Your management of the strong light (guessed from the cropped sky) here is great. Though the B&W is good, I would prefer this version anyday

Interesting and surprising b/w ws proposal from you Kath. We are both for colours and in this one it is quite obvious that this strong green colour must be seen. Beautiful lighting with strong attractive contrasts and perfect composition. It seems that the crop of the sky worked for the best. A very nice one of the countryside with lovely textures on the stone walls and house.

Hi Kath,
English countryside at its best. Large open fields, gentle hills and stone fences. Green looks quite saturated, but fresh grass in backlight is. I like how the branches frame the scene.

Excellent picture with very good colours contrast and composition. This is a nice place and you captured it very well, good POV and great details. I prefer this one, the B&W killed the beautiful colours.

This is a wonderful picture Kath, I like the composition with the gate at the front and the trees framing either side. I had a look at the WS but it doesn't really work in B&W, it looks too grey.
