Photographer's Note

More from Lands End at the very western tip of England. Lands End is actually quite a tacky place, ruined by some bright sparks idea to put a theme park on the top of the cliffs. A completely innappropriate notion which misses the point entirely. This place is a rugged wilderness and the last main piece of land before America. It is a place to come and gaze out over the rocky cliffs and watch the fierce ocean beating against the first landmass it encounters for thousands of miles. There is no need to provide more entertainment than watching that - surely?

Yet, as is usually the case it is easy to escape the touristy hordes by walking just a little. I found this spot and spent an evening alone, happily sitting at the top of the cliffs in one of the most stunning locations I have been fortunate to photograph. The sunset wasnt playing ball, it simply wasnt going to happen - or so I thought. Long after I thought the sun had gone down, it popped out, shortly followed by a pink glow throughout the cloudy sky. An amazing sunset to compliment an amazing night sitting at the top of the cliffs at Lands End. This is what its all about, not theme parks but nature in all its magnificence.
