A Hawk in Warwick
Two weeks ago, I was finally able again to take a group of students to England. One of the places we visited was Warwick Castle. This photo was taken during the ‘Falconer’s Quest’, a bird show featuring several birds of prey, including this hawk.

Interesting photo, I like the composition. We don't see the man's face and thanks to that we are more able to appreciate other elements. I like the blurred background and details of the man's shirt and the bird's feathers.

fantastic! it is like a tour to the past, medieval times. excellent view of the guy and the falcon as was usual in those days. these recreations of the past are ever interesting to see.

Hello Lars, although the man’s back dominates the frame, it is the bird of prey that immediately attracts our attention. The man is anonymous so we can concentrate on the pose and the details of the hawk.
Shallow depth of field works perfectly.

Hi Lars,
I had a chance to visit the Warwick Castle last year. Very nice place for sure. Probably more exciting for smaller children, not sure how old your students are since the word could be use from primary school to university in English language.
Nice capture. You have been really close, when I was there it was so crowded it was hard to get a good spot.

Hallo Lars,
Alhoewel ik niet echt veel van roofdieren houdt, vind ik roofvogels daarop een uitzondering. Eigenlijk vind ik valken en haviken heel mooie vogels.
Hoe een roofvogelshow er uitziet, heb ik enkel het gissen naar.
In Peru heb ik ooit eens een jonge arend op mijn hoofd (eigenlijk op mijn pet) gehad om een foto te laten nemen. Ik was er niet echt gerust in :)
Prachtig gevederte van deze havik.

I'm sure you had a wonderful time.
To experience birds of prey, up close, is very exciting!
I think you made an excellent composition, with details of the handler so close, without the distraction of his face, his shoulders making a very natural guide to the bird. The pair are nicely set against an oof b/g.
Do you ever use PS?
If you select the bird, with the quick selection tool and then address 'shadows and highlights', it is possible to get even better details of the plumage.
